My Fish

I am an amateur Aquarist. About four years ago I purchased a
29-gallon tank after enjoying the responsibility of watching my
friends' Fish over the summer. I bought an aggressive Convict
that did not get along with her little fishes. I have had many
fish including Convicts, Bala sharks, tetras, a Hong Kong parrot,
many varieties of African Cichlids
, and more I cannot remember. When these pictures were taken,
(March 17, 1997) I had two Convicts,
two Bala Sharks, a large Pl*co, and a Hong Kong parrot. My
favorites were by far my convicts, which I have successfully
bred. Hopefully some more recent pictures will be here in the
near future. The only two fish still living are my pl*co and my
Hong Kong Parrot (Red Devil) he is was so tiny when the picture
above was taken, you can't even see him.

Can You Spot The Pl*co? ->
My setup
My 30-gallon tank includes:
- Whisper 2 powerfilter
- This is the second quietest filter I have owned or heard.
I have not had experience with large external filters,
but they are a waste for a tank smaller than 55 gallons
IMHO. It works great for picking out floating chunkies.
- Aquaclear 200 Powerfilter
- I have three sponge filter cartridges in this baby..
Basically it's one big biofilter. Works great. The water
stays clear and the fish stay healthy. It runs much
quieter than the Whisper.
- Aquanetics 8Watt UV filter
- This thing is awesome. I always had a problem with
greenwater till I installed this sucker. Now, I don't
think any baddies can live in my tank. (Keeps the fish
healthy and gives off a spiffy purple glow)
- Perfecto Hood
- What can I say, they look neat. They open in front and
work great for freshwater.. Although if you're going salt
or want plants.. you may need more light than they can
provide. I will be upgrading to a dual bulb hood in the
near future when I try live plants.
- Visitherm Heater
- Don't waste your money on this one. It's no better than
my roommate's $10 cheapo. Of course, it looks fancy, but
it's no Ebo-Jager.
- Ebo-Jager Heater
- This is their basic 300-watt submersible. It is for
backup since my tank is unattended now.
- Under-gravel Filter
- This is a fancy under-gravel filter. It sits under my
gravel and allows my powerhead to do its job.
- Aquaclear 150 Powerhead
- This pumps the water from under my gravel out to my
Ultraviolet and then back into my tank. Kind of a
circulation pump.
